| Can you configure a Win 2000 Pro machine as a DHCP Relay Agent? and if so HOW? | |

| I don't think that the W2k Pro support the DHCP Relay. As DHCP relay, relay the DHCP request to remote segment. I am pretty sure that I am right...
You can also find more infomation on this link:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/tr...rt2/tcpch04.asp
It is the ch4 about the dhcp at the MS TechNet.
If you tell me on the goals to acheive we may able to help better. | |

| The DHCP relay agent is configured using RRAS, which is available only with the W2k Server products. One thing to keep in mind regarding DHCP relay agents, is to never configure one on the same server hosting a DHCP server or even on the same subnet, as both the DHCP server and DHCP relay agent use the same TCP/UDP ports, and this configuration will cause both of them to fail to do there jobs. Only place a DHCP relay agent on the same subnet where the clients it is intended to service are located and where the router is not BOOTP compliant. You can also use a DHCP relay agent with a RRAS server when you want your RAS clients to receive configured DHCP scope options, only make sure there isn't a DHCP server also being hosted on the RRAS server or another one located on the same local subnet for the reasons that were explained above. | |
