| Hello everyone. I have been out of it for a few weeks and am getting back into studying 218 finally. I wanted to pass on something useful that I just ran into the other day on a Win2000 PRO machine.
My boss called me over and told me that he was getting all kinds of error when he rebooted. I took a look and the error that he was getting was LSASS.exe terminated unexpectedly and his machine would just hang on login. After a little bit of hunting, I went into his BIOS to set floppy as the first bootable device. I noticed that his BIOS was only reporting 136MB of RAM. For one, it was an odd number and for two, I installed 256MB of RAM not long ago. So I pulled the RAM, replaced it and everything returned to normal. I thought it was interesting and could be useful to one of you. Good luck in your studies!!!

| Thanks for á real life problem and solution. Maybe their should be an extra section in this site for such things. | |

| I thought something like this might help. In the past 7 years, I haven't run into anything like this and will know better if happens again.
I agree with you, I think we could use a nice little KB or group for these kinds of things! Take care and Happy B-day yesterday!!!!

| Thanks for the real life tip. I have seen RAM do some crazy stuff to a PC. If it isn't the correct speed for the bus, or if the memory is bad, PC's can go bezerk. Good luck on 70-218. You should have no problem with it. | |

Thanks and good luck to you!

| Thank you Captain for the B/day congrats, 30 years....Where did they all go?
I seem to remember having a similar problem a couple of weeks back. It was with the same exe, but my problem was caused by lack of disk space after the DC had crashed and performed a full memory dump. It would load until the network settings, hang for about five minutes, and then come up with a message saying that the lsass.exe cannot load due to insufficient disk space. It would then restart and go on a merry go round.
I solved the problem by going into recovery console (no other method would work), and deleting the dunp file. The DC then started, but with a now corrupt OS, which forced me to reformat and reinstall as a overwrite did not work. Big bummer.
Note: Always make sure that if you are using the C drive for your memory dumps (which IS the default, then remember to keep sufficient disk space available for it.

| That is very interesting and useful! I do admit that it would be very nice to have a place here or somewhere that provided a nice little KB for strange problems like we have talked about. I will keep your experience in mind!
I hope you had a nice b-day! 30 is not old. It is kinda like having sex for the first time- it feels strange at first, but you get used to it and then the fun begins! I will be 32 later this year and when I turned 30, I was in a kind of shock. Really though, where does the time go?!?!? Take care!
