Q20. You are the network admin. One of your W2K file servers is running out of space. Since your existing NTFS volume is running low on space, you added a disk and wish to extend the volume. When you highlight both the existing volume and the new space in Disk Management, the option Extend is gray. Why can this volume not be extended?

A. If the volume was converted from a basic to a dynamic disk, then it cannot be extended.

B . You cannot extend NTFS volumes.

C . You cannot extend volumes in Disk Administrator, but must use the Create Volume Wizard.

D . If the volume was converted from FAT to NTFS, then it cannot be extended.

Good Luck!

The answer is A, and you can confirm this by simply reading your 210 or 215 study materials.

The correct answer is indeed A!

Extending volumes is done in Disk Management, using the Extend option, or can be done with the Extend Volume Wizard. The volume must be formatted with NTFS, and cannot be on a disk that has been converted from a basic disk to a dynamic disk.
