This may seem like a strange question, but I'm a BIG believer in learning from other people's mistakes, hard work, etc.

Does anyone have the yearly subscription to TechNet and if so, how do you, in particular, use it?

Every month I get updates and it seems like a MOUNTAIN of info to go through...how do you find the good stuff? Those little nuggets people just seem to pull out of the TechNet mountin o' info?

Just curious.

Technet is a good subscription. Granted they send you so much information to review and keep handy as a library tool.

If you want to go straight to the answer and not search every cd or paper they send to you.
Basically just go to;
www.technet.com and punch up your search

Normally I just read the headlines but if something interests me (concerning issues relating to items I use) then I will read the whole article. I have over 2 years worth filed!! You never know when you might need it again ....

Technet+ is $450 USD. Is there a discount for us MCPers?
Any?

This is taken from the MCP secure site:

Beginning January 1, 2000, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineers and Microsoft Certified Database Administrators certified on or after that date receive a discount or rebate on a one-year subscription to TechNet or TechNet Plus during the first year of certification. (Customers in North America receive a rebate; customers outside North America receive either a rebate or discount, depending on location. Please see your Welcome Kit for details.) Please use the form included with your Welcome Kit to receive the MCP benefit.

Thanks Frank I just called them and they said I have to mail it out to them.
Now what I need to ask is the advice. Do I purchase the Technet or the Technet+ package?
Thanks

The main difference appears to be that Technet Plus has beta evaluations of upcoming or recent Microsoft products (i.e. .NET server software, Mobile Information Sever, etc.) Plain old TechNet has any and all SP's, Technical Training Cd's (up to 20 now I see!), resource kits for 2000 pro and server...

The cost for regular Technet is half the cost of TechNet +. TechNet Plus cost about $500)I still think MS should cut MCP's, like people here, a break on the price and not just for MCSE's & MCDA's. I mean we ARE the extended support for their product are we not?! Hello??!? Just my opinion.

(Oops, or was that the kids' grocery money? I always get those mixed up..oh jeez, the wife's gonna be pissed now!)
