| Here's an easy one -
You are the administrator for your Windows 2000 network. You have a Windows 2000 Server computer that is your Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server. Another Windows 2000 Server computer is your Domain Name System (DNS) server.
You want the DHCP server to configure the DNS server setting for all DHCP clients.
What should you do?
A. Use DHCP option 44
B. Use DHCP option 6
C. Use DHCP option 44 and 46
D. Use DHCP option 46
I would say good luck, but you don't need it for this one - it's a cinch!

They are for DHCP Joe. | |

| Correct Answer: Use DHCP option 6
Explanation: DHCP option 6 specifies a list of IP addresses for Domain Name System (DNS) name servers available to the client. When more than one server is assigned, the client interprets and uses the addresses in the specified order.
Jose - you can set options for the DHCP server so when it hands out addresses it automatically gives out specific server information (DNS, WINS, etc.). The DNS option is number 6.
Very good everyone - see you tomorrow!

DHCP server can automate the ip configuration for your clients.
you can provide not only ip address to clients, instead, you can provide several data to clients automatically like gateway address, wins address, dns address, etc etc.
you make this configuring the scope options on the dhcp server. you can assign scope options on scope basis, server basis and client basis.
you can add classess too, so you are able to provide different configurations (i.e: diferent gateway address to diferent clients) in your network.
you can specify classes or you can use the vendor clasess and user classes on your dhcp server.
after you configure classes, you can assing specific scope options for diferent classes, for example:
standard user class receive 192.168.0.1 as gateway
class1 user class (defined by you) can receive 192.168.0.200 as gateway.
you can define scope options and duration lease time for remote access clients and this is usefull because remote clients must have less time to refresh and renew their ip configuration so this ip address must be available on less time.
the options you assing using the scope options on your dhcp have numbers and the 6 is the dns.....
the most used scope options are:
dns
gateway
wins
wins node
domain name.
good luck
hope this help.
iīm poor with my english so i hope you understand something........
