| Subject: Replication
Q.) You have three offices: one in San Francisco, one in Los Angeles, and one in Dallas. San Francisco and Los Angeles are connected by a T1 connection. Dallas is connected with a 56K connection. The T1 is at 92 percent bandwidth utilization and the 56K is a dialup connection that is only used when needed. How would you configure sites for replication in this case?
A.) Establish two sites: one for Los Angeles and San Francisco and one for Dallas.
B.) Create three sites: one for each location.
C.) Create one large site.
D.) Establish two sites: one for Los Angeles and Dallas and one for San Francisco.

The correct answer to this question is: B.) Sites should be established on the basis of the physical connectivity and subnets. It is a logical grouping of DCs to ease replication traffic. Ordinarily, you would use two sites because the two offices have a T1 connection, but considering the fact that you have been told that the T1 is near bandwidth maximum, this would indicate a good reason to segment the traffic a little more with your sites, so three sites would be the better way to go here. |
