Unless I'm reading something wrong it seems that the 70-270 exam only counts toward the MCSE 2000 side and not the MCSE 2003 side. Does someone know for sure?

I'm info is from the following link....

I agree, that link is misleading, but in reality you can choose either 70-210, or 70-270 as the client OS exam for either W2K, or W2K3, MCSE certification. I would hope so, since XP, is the most current client.

Check out this link, it is more informative:

Look under Core exams client operating systems. I hope that helps.

Yes very misleading. I went to the link and its has the WINXP exam but once you click on the WINXP exam it says...

"Credit Toward Certification
When you pass the Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows® XP Professional exam, you achieve Microsoft Certified Professional status. You also earn credit toward the following certifications:

Core credit toward Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer on Microsoft Windows 2000 certification
Core credit toward Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator on Microsoft Windows 2000 certification"

I'm sure you are correct because my understanding is that WINXP was designed with WIN2003 in mind.

Aha!, I see what you are talking about. Kinda an Microsoft endless loop.

I think what may be happening is, that since the Windows 2003 certification is so new, they have not completely proofread and updated all the web pages to indicate that both 70-210 and 70-270 count towards W2K3.

I hope so, because I am upgrading my certs too and have decided to take 70-270 instead of 70-210, now because I think at this point it is more relevant.

Seriously though, don't worry about it. Just study the 70-270, it DOES count.
