Hey, just wanted to see who else is actively preparing for this exam. That way we can pick each other's brains and discuss which topics we are having difficulty with, things we've heard about the test, etc. Maybe put together sort of a loose-knit study group. Just respond here please.

I am trying to upgrade my cert and considering doing 70-270 versus my original choice 70-210, since I think that it is more relevant now.

So, still deciding, but leaning towards it. Do you have any feedback on best study guides for this one aside from using the OS itself?

Most of the 70-270 guides seem to have lackluster reviews, especially the MS Self paced. I heard Exam Cram 2 is good but not sure if it covers enough.

I used ExamCram2. Pretty good for passing the exam. Here in Oz it was also very cheap which is important since these books gather dust afterwards. They aren't really field text books.

(Having passed this exam and now aiming for 70-290, I gave the ExamCram books a miss - too lightweight! Got a Sybex book about Server 2003 as well as a "pass the exam" type book.)

Generally though, I only relied on the books for 50% of my studies.

Oh, by the way, you can get plenty of ebooks for free across the web which can be handy. Great to carry in your laptop. But I find reading a "real" book better for information retention.

Thanks BlueSkyMining, for the tips. Well, I have used the Exam Cram books before, but for the most part they are a little too light for the 2000 and 2003 tracks. The notable exception I have heard was the 70-270, book which many claim is more detailed than the larger so called test prep guides.

I also have the CBT nuggets video for this as well as Transcenders, but my time is very limited, so I need to find some reliable but not too long sources, aside from of course, the OS itself.

Thanks again, I appreciate it. I don't know what happened to format kid, who was looking for a study group. I have found that to be a useful tool as well....

Hey, I'm still here. Feel free to hit me on email, aim, msn, etc. if you want to study-group. I've kind of let my independent study fall to the back burner again and I'm looking to get focused again. Funny enough, I'm using almost the exact same resources as you so we should be able to compare notes.

See ya around.

Interesting that you are using the same resources. Well, I am in the same boat. Every time I try to ramp up to start knocking off these exams, something comes up to temporarily divert me.

Hopefully, I can get a reasonable period of time here, when more immediate issues don't prevail and I can get on track. At that point, we might be able to swap some productive info.

Im using examcram2 and xp passport combination. I have xppro O.S.
I've heard the xp pro resource kit is very valuable resource too, so I'm going to check it out. Yes I too would like to exchange study ideas with others.

Don't you just love constructive comments?

He may be right but somehow I doubt it. Even so, how about an alternative?

Yes, the resource kit is good, as is Mark Minasi's Mastering Windows XP Pro. Of course, as always, playing with the OS is best.

Yo, I'm working it too. I'm reading MS press official study guide for the exam. Should be enough I figure.
