Author Advice for those about to take Exam 70-270

I passed the 70-270 Exam last week and it is an awesome feeling indeed! I used the book MCSE/MCSA Windows XP Professional Study Guide (Exam 70-270)
by Curt Simmons. The book was great and covered mostly 85% of the material.

I DO NOT recommend the book
MCSE Training Kit (Exam 70-270): Windows XP Professional by Microsoft Corporation

I think it sucks and does not cover the test objectives. Dont buy it!

I also used the testking Questions and Ansers version 7.0 that I got off of Kazaa. I would say 70% of the questions I saw where verbatim to the testking practice test. I wouldnt say I "cheated" because I took the testking test and knew most of the answers from studying. Don't try to just buy the cheat sheet and take the test or you will be a "paper tech" and when you do get hired you will be fired soon thereafter for incompetency. I use it as a supplement AFTER studying and 3 days before I take the exam. DO buy an Exam voucher to save money. I got mine for $115.

More advice: For those studying for CompTIA's A+ Exam DO NOT buy any book written before 2003 because the objectives changed in November 2003 and the old book will not contain the new objectives. I recommend A+ Certification All-in-One Exam Guide, Fifth Edition by Michael Meyers, Scott Jernigan

Good Luck!

i agree with you because some bookstores they still have the old book with the old objectives on display. my tip, go over the year the book was published usually found in the first few pages of the book....anyways, you can still return it within a week...
