Author I passed 70-270!

Well, today was the day I went in to take the exam 070-270, Windows XP Professional. This test was a LOT harder than I had expected it to be, but I passed!
I found that there were more server questions than client ws questions. It became rather troublesome.
The way I look at it now, is that the server exam and client ws exam are intertwined together, so I should probably take the Win2000 Server 70-215 next instead of going for the CCNA.

A word of advice about this exam- know the security templates, command line commands, NTFS EFS and Compression like the back of your hand. There were too many questions where all the choices sounded so good that any could be correct. I would not reccommend this test without first having knowledge of how the server world works- in all honesty, there really were more server-related questions than client questions. Maybe it was just me

I'd like to pose a question to those that are more knowledgable than I am. I'd like to jump on the 2003 track, but I can get really nice deals on vouchers for the 2000 track. Am I better off taking the 2000 track and then doing an upgrade to 2003 later on, or should I start off on the '03 track and not bother taking the '00 exams? When will MS drop support for '00? Comments??

Cheers,

Thanks! This test was rather difficult for me, as it was the very first IT test/certification exam I have ever taken. I did not know what to expect at all. I consider myself to be an advanced user, and I have been futzing with XP for a while before I took the exam.

I will say that the best resource I used for this exam was the Test King study guide. I would venture to say that if it weren't for that guide, I probably would not have done nearly as well.

Based on your certs, I think you'll have a better time with this exam than me because you know how the test-taking system works by now.
Good luck on your adventure!!

I actually called Microsoft and asked them this. They said, wh enever they decide to drop exams, they announce it every June, and when they announce it, it wont be in effect for a year after then. They did not announce it this year, so we have to wait till next June to see, and even if they do announce it next June, it wont be for another year after that till it becomes in effect. So in essence, the minimum time they can be dropped is 1 year and 9 months from now, and if they don't announce it next year, it'll be another year, so 2 years and 9 months from around this time.
