| I've been getting the error message about my paging file missing or not being large enough. I currently have 256MB of RAM and i set my min-max paging file to 200-382 but that doesn't fix the problem. My computer takes forever to boot up and i usually have to wait for the screen saver to appear and then i'm able to log in. I only have one other user account set up on XP. I ran disk defrag to clean up some stuff...also window washer to free up some slack space. I'm not sure what else to do about this annoyance. Anyones response is greatly appreciated. | |

| Your page file size is indeed abit too small. If your physical RAM is 256MB, your initial page file size should be 256 * 1.5 = 384MB. Try and see if that setting will help. | |

| u can move ur paging file 2 diff partion then OS & let windows set the paging file size. | |

| General rule of thumb with Microsoft Operating Systems is that the Pagefile/Swap File should have a minimum of 1.5 times the amount of RAM you have and a maximum of 2 times the RAM.
So if you have 256MB of RAM, that would entail a minimum of 384 and a maximum of 512.
Should you want to prevent the Pagefile from growing, you could set the minimum and the maximum to the same value.
