XP Safe Mode Password

| When I boot into safe mode I get an Administrator Account and the account that I had setup with Admin privileges. Only in safe mode does this Administrator account show up. When I logon to troubleshoot should I use the Administrator account or the account with the Admin privileges? Or are they both the same? Is there a default password for the Administrator account? | |

The adminstrator account is there for troubleshooting. It is probably not a bad idea to change the administrator password to something that you will REMEMBER. The account you created probably has the same rights as the administrator. If your user account has "admin" rights, then you should be able to change the administrator password. If this is on a domain, it can be done through Active Directory

| where do i go to change the administrator password? I checked under User Accounts and the administrator account wasn't there. Is it hidden somewhere? | |

| ctrl+alt+del should bring up windows security box where you can click change password..
otherwise when signing on to xp you can access admin account by using the ctrl+alt+del combo TWICE in a row

| Here are your options:
1. Change the control panel to Classic mode then go into Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Users and Groups, Users, right click the user account, Set Password.
2. Go into User Accounts, Advanced, Advanced, Users, right click the user account, Set Password.
3. Go into User Accounts, Advanced, check Require users to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete, click okay, click Start, Shut Down, Logoff, log in with username Administrator with no password, go back into User Accounts and Reset Password for Administrator.
Cheers,
