I am running Windows XP home edition on my machine. When I leave the machine for a while my screen saver will kick in or go into standby mode. Simple enough. Now when I get back to my machine, it takes me back to the welcome screen to click on my user name to be able to get back to my desktop. I want to be able to bypass that.

I have checked the screen saver tab to see if the option "On resume use welcome screen" is there but it is not there. The only option I have is "on resume password protect."

Is there anywhere else to disable or bypass having to always go back to the welcome screen.

My Windows XP pro has the option to uncheck the use welcome screen option in the screen saver tab. I'm confused. Does home edition not have the feature. I could've swore that I saw it in there.

Under the Power Options in Control panel, Under the Advanced tab there is a check box to prompt for a password when when computer resumes from standby. Is that checked?

If you password protect your screensaver it will take you back to the welcome screen or if you have the welcome screen disabled will prompt you for your username and password. Remove the checkbox for password protect on the screensaver properties and your problem will be solved.
