| On the XP machine do you have the primary dns to be your dns server in your domain? | |

| I have static IP, no DHCP or DNS configured. I also use Verizon's ips for DNS to access internet. | |

| You need to have the DNS server for your domain as the primary on the client. On your DNS server machine use a forwarder to point to verizon's ip's. | |

| O.K. now that I'm home from work I'll give you an explanation why. XP uses DNS as it's way (primary name resolution) of finding a DC to log into . So it's using your ISP to find your Domain Controller where it should go straight to your DC using the internal DNS. I hope this helps and let me
know how it goes! | |

Exactly. Add the IP of your PC that is running DNS in the TCP/IP properties as the primary DNS server, and use the ISPs as secondaries, or configure it under the appropriate scope on your DHCP server. |
