| HI guys
Im using ABIT shuttle AK-12 motherboard, AMD
Althon 1.2GHZ cpu, geforce2 64ram video card and I have 256ram running win2000. Lately Im trying to install winXP. But I have this not loading problem. When I first put the XP disc in, u know they will jump to the dos style blue screen and start loading the driver files first, and after that it will say 'SETUP IS STARTING WINDOWS' and then it will jump to the next I AGREE F8 key screen right?? But for mine, it STUCK FOREVER on the "Setup Is Starting Windows" and it freeze. No reaction Haaa .......
PLEASE HELP MEEEEEEEEEEEEE~~~
I have 20 more of this computer here need to install XP cuz Im running my own e-game store here in L.A.
Thank you for reading this ....

| Are they burnt copies? | |
|
| Hi there
thanks for your reply
Yes, it is
have you heard of that happened ?
when Im at home install it and no problem
but just all these computers at my store cant, im thinking is that the motherboard VIA IDE not fit XP or somethings.

| Well I was thinking that when you burnt them it didn't burn correctly but since you say that it installed fine at home, then I'm not sure. Is the CD-ROM at home a newer and in better shape than the one at work? | |

| Hi,
I had the same problem with my system. I can tell you without a doubt that it's a GRAPHIC CARD problem. I've installed the geforce2mx/400, and a geforce 3 from asus, both on an amd Thunderbird system with a via chipset aopen mainboard. Simply use a cheap pci card (or other agp card that doesn't have an nvidia chipset) and install Windows XP . (also make sure your agp settings are not boosted up to their max in the bios - example: agp fast write on, agp 4x)
Once XP is installed simply put your original AGP card back in and boot.
It worked for me!
good luck | |

| I had a similar problem, and later found out that I had a bad RAM chip. Turns out XP is extrememely picky about memory. If you can, try the install on another machine and see if you get the same problem.. if you do, look for a BIOS update from Abit's website. | |

| until now
I have been trying so many times still couldnt install winxp on my station. piss me off big time. I did try to change memory or even upgrade my RAM to 1G. changed 3 different brand of video cards. and still not working. Right After i put the disc into the rom, and it start loading the files at the bottom lines of the blue screen, and when it finished, the computer stuck at "WINDOWS SETTING IS NOW START UP"
and it NEVER go to the next I AGREEMENT screen.
MY GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
is it somethings about the VIA bridge problem?

| Why don't you try installing Win2K first using FAT32 and then installing Win XP. You never know this might do the trick. | |

| I thought it was a waste of time burning XP, due to the product activation? | |

| could be your masterboot record does not know what to do, boot into 2kpro or xp.
have you set them up on the right file system, they need to be both fat32 or ntfs.
you could also try deleting your mbr and sys it from your boot disk.

| Are you sure it's an AK board and not one of the Abit KA or KT boards if it is you need to press F6 as if you were using scsi and install the HPT highpoint Drivers | |

| Isn't there a harware qualifying tool that you can run, to check to see if there are some hardware incompatiblity problems.
Usually run on a system before install

| hello there
i have faced this same problem
this is due to a hardware that is not working or not supported with windows XP
do a barebody installation. remove ur sound card , ethercard , modem. USe only VGA card.. Disable ur on board cards in the BIOS. on board cards are the main cause of this problem. i faced this problem due to my on board sound card.
when u are successful with the barebody installation then add the other cards one by one..
pls let me know if it works
|
| thank you so much mukundh
I will go try it tomorrow when I go to work
thank you | |

| They cracked the activation feature of XP before it was even in Beta 2. Remember when that hacker got into microsoft and stole the source code for it? Well, thanks to him and many others there have been no activation copies of Office XP for well over a year now, and cracked copies of XP since the first major beta release. The most popular version is DevilsOwn... However, Microsoft will be killing those all in SP1. The good news for all of you cheap bastards out there though (like me), they have already cracked the algorithm for the serial and are releasing patches and keygens to get around this problem. As soon as Microsoft thinks of a way to stop the piracy, hundreds (if not thousands) of programmers and crackers are working to keep it going. If you want to track down a copy for yourself Cyberdude, check the newsgroups out or hop on direct connect. You shouldn't have much trouble finding it on either one. | |

| Thank you for the insight mate, but I will wait and see what SP1 is like. I can buy the student version for EURO 95. It is just a shame that the student version of Office XP is only the standard and not the professional. Why do you have to pay SO much for Access? I know publisher comes with Pro too, but it would be nice to have access with a student license. I think it will be rude of me not to take advantage of my wife's status. | |

| Hi guys
im just wondering how to turn on the preview on window explorer on XP? Remember on window2000 when u open window explorer, if u highlight a picture file, it will show the little preview on the left side? or if u highlight a mp3 file on the right side, it will show a small window media player on the left which u can preview and listen? I just cant find a way to have that again on XP. I just always System Task, file and folder and other places thats it. not like window2000.
Thx guys | |

| If you are in Windows XP mode then you make the details pane on the left hand side of the window go down, and it will show like it did in 2k. If you are in windows classic mode it will be the same as 2k. | |
|
| oh yes thats right
Thank you so much | |
