Lotus Connector - Removing?

| About 2 years ago is when my office first rolled over from Lotus Notes to MS Exchange 2000. Since then we no longer use the Lotus Server for anything Mail related.
The Lotus Connector and related services etc are still present? They don't seem to be harming anything, excepth for the messages in the event logs etc.
Is there and benifit to removing the lotus connector? Any possible harm?
Or does this fall under "If its not broke, don't fix it?" - I live by this philosophy in all things regarding IT.

| I cannot see how removing the connector would cause any problems, I would perform a full backup beforehand just in case though!
The connector is using resources on your server and is running a service on your server, so from that point of view it is good to remove the connector.
But...
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Which way do you go hey

Right now I have the service stopped, with no ill effect.
Any other opinions? Anyone?

| I have not dealt with this as an issue directly, but some advice:
a) Do this as part of some scheduled maintenance cycle. Typically scheduled maintenance allows time for disaster recovery and is timed to least effect the user population.
b) Run through the procedure on a test machine. Even if you test machine does not exactly mimic the production one, at least whatever procedure you are doing, you won't be doing it for the first time on a production server. |
