| Hey SRV1, Just a quick question. I hope you a feeling OK, because this morning I re-built you and installed Exchange - quite an operation. You seem OK though....
I have a question though regarding storage groups in Exchange 2000 Enterprise. I have the MSPress Exchange administrator's pocket consultant which states that "each Exchange server can have up to 16 storage groups, and each storage group can have up to 6 databases. This means that the maximum number of databases a single server can have is 16. One storage group is reserved for recovery operations"
I then look at some exam notes I downloaded (Not reliable) which states "You can configure up to 4 storage groups per Exchange 2000 server. You can have up to 6 information store databases per storage group"
I then look at the MSPress training kit book which states "a single Exchange server can have up to 4 seperate storage groups, which can hold each up to five mailbox and public stores"
I have tested this on my Exchange server and was able to create 4 storage groups and 5 mailbox or public stores.
Break it down for me Guys and Girls.
I must warn you I am 50.999% sure I am being stupid here and missing the obvious !!
That .999 does make a big difference... | |

| Thanks for your help everybody, it would seem as though 4x5 is the popular choice. |
