Im having some serious issues trying to run forestprep on my dc.

I have followed all the guidelines but keep getting the same error Dont have the right permissions or active directory is busy.

I am logging in as a admin who is member of schema. enterprise, domain admins and local.
So there shouldnt be a permissions issue.

Dns is running sweet and I have done a DCdiag and Netdiag with all passes.

Cant think of what else to do. Have checked the log files and I do get errors about AD being too busy.

How do I overcome this.

Any help appreciated

You have to be Administrator to run Forestprep.. You do this so that users with less "power" can install Exchange server..

Tell your admin to run forestprep, and then do your business.. Correct me if I'm wrong..

I am the admin. Read the threads before answering.

You also need to be a member of schema, enterprise and domain admins.

Thats if you didnt know that all ready.

I was trying to install exchange on a single DC, the only one in the foreset. Everything was set up the way it should be. In the end I blew server away and re installed it again , then tried forest prep and it worked straight away.

Weird

Was the server base install up to SP1 before the exchange 2000 install?

Offhand Comments:
One of the issues that I have with M$ is their nasty habit of tinkering with established nomenclature. aka Exchange Sites becomes routing groups or administration groups. Darn GUI isn't very intuitive. I just wish I didn't have to install web services for mail. After Nimda...I'd rather outsource web services to UNIX ASPs.
