Just passed Linux+ with an 835. I've heard many people say this is an easy test but I can't say I agree. It's 94 questions in 90 minutes and I used up all but about 15 minutes of my aloted time, compared to the A+ and Network+ tests where I barely used up half of it. The grading curve is quite liberal, however. Before ending the test I had serious doubts whether I'd even get the 655 required, so seeing 835 was a bit of a surprise. The exact opposite experience I had with the A+ tests, where I thought I had done quite well and got a surprisingly low score. Anyway, the moral of the story is: the harder the material, the easier the grading curve, and vice versa.

Well, I spent a good six months playing with various distros (Mandrake, RedHat/Fedora, Slackware, Debian/Knoppix and Gentoo) which pretty much covered the installation objectives, but not much else. I then bought the second edition of Sybex's Linux+ Study Guide and went through it with a fine toothed comb. Lastly, I used every free practice test I could find on the web and made sure to read the man and info pages for every command they referenced. The extra effort definitely paid off, as I got a question on chattr that the book didn't cover but which I had seen on a practice test (transcender's.)

In any case, CompTIA is revising the exam, cutting the hardware portion in half and adding new questions on security. So anyone planning on taking it this year better do so soon, as it usually takes half a year for the books and practice tests to reflect the changed objectives. Good luck everyone.
