Passed HTI+ Residential Systems Exam

| Managed to pass this one with a 750 (655 required). Didn't study much, and focused on the Course Technologies HTI+ Guide to Home Networking book. My next effort will be to study for and pass the HTI+ Integraded Systems and Infrastructure Exam. I'll probably take it next Monday.
Problem I see with this next exam is the exam objectives are rather skimpy (3-1/2 pages) vs the Residential Systems objectives (17 pages).
Anyone have an idea why, with the same number of test questions (100), the coverage appears to be less broad? Is a detailed knowledge or the NEC, EIA/TIA standards, etc., necessary?

YES! Specifically EIA/TIA 568, 607-A, 570-A & NEC Art. 800(telcom) & 250(grounding). NEC is updated every three years.
The final authority for issues regarding electrical installation: the local representitive having jurisdiction.
Good Luck! You're half way there!

| Thanks for the info. I noted when reading the Course Technology book that it didn't identify the importance that governmental authorities (State and Local) have final regulative authority over the specific codes and regulations that are applied to HTI+ related activities.
I also know that here in California, someone providing the broad range of services described in the HTI exam objectives had better be talking to our Contractors Licensing Board about the need to obtain a contractor's license.
