Need some career information based on CDIA+.
Will the certificate alone fetch an entry level opening? And what kinda companies ?

CDIA+ is not well recognized except by imaging/office solution type organizations, like Xerox or IKON and perhaps widely used in industries with large volumes of paper records that they want transferred to databases or images. I doubt it will open any doors for you unless you have a pretty clear career path in imaging systems.

HOWEVER, that is not to say that it would not be worthwhile to pursue the certification. I worked at an engineering company that purchased a smaller organization with paperwork from decades ago. The company decided to implement an imaging solution in order to have more security and disaster recovery options with data files than with paper files. They also created hundred of feet of office space by moving the paper files to server disk space. I was a contractor in desktop support, so I was unable to really be involved in the implementation, but the knowledge I gained from CDIA+ helped me understand the "why's" and "what for's" of the project.

I would encourage you to pursue the certification with a couple things in mind. 1) If you plan on pursuing N+ and i-N+ as well, do either or both of these before you do CDIA+. Probably 50% CDIA+ will just regurgitate what these CompTIA "Net" exams cover, so pursuing these certs first will save time later. Also, the knowledge for the Net exams is more general and applicable to a wider range of jobs than CDIA+. 2) Be aware that study material for CDIA+ has typically been hard to locate. @DOC (as I recall) had a study guide, and Specialized Solutions had a book and practice exams. Hopefully by the time you're ready some more exams will be available.

This exam is a toughie. It's been a couple years since I've taken it, but the format has been changed since, so it could be a very different exam from the one for which I sat. Be sure to study for it

Your welcome. Let us all know as you progress with this. I always like to hear about CDIA+ pursuers. The more techs who take it, the more folks will get to know what it is.
