| Would anyone have any suggestions on where to go to learn a nortel system? Book? Manuals? Online Information*?
We have a nortel system and I would like to at least know how to do a little with it. (I like to know something about everything in the computer room).

| There are a few books. Probably, the most complete is "Nortel Networks - The Complete Reference" by James Knapp. There's another I have which I can't remember - It has a blue and white cover. Search Nortel at Amazon and buy at www.bookpool.com - much cheaper.
The only official training for Nortel is offered by their partner, Global Knowledge. You might search ebay to see if anyone has any books from the classes for sale.
I am assuming you meant data. There is a lot more Meridian phone material around, but I'm not familiar with it.

| Anyone know where you can get a copy of sitemanager or a place to download it...I just bought a couple of nortel routers to practice with and need prcatice using sitemanager also. | |

Did you get a hold of "site mangler"? The only place I know of is Nortelnetworks.com. Do you have a support agreement with them? | |

| Well, since there is no EULA that I can determine, and nothing in the Readme about it, I suppose it's OK.
However, the .zip file is 35MB. I doubt your AOL account can take a file that big. Do you have an FTP site or know how I can send it to you otherwise? | |

When you say "system" that's kind of vague. What kind of system? Phone or Data? We have both in our data center. And we have some Nortel systems which combine voice and data.

| Hmmm.
Maybe i should learn some Nortel, it can be valueable knowledge together with Cisco, as many places uses both Cisco and Nortel on their networks.
I have been into some Nortel Baystacks 4500's before, never really configured one though. Just simple error checking, psysical setup and cable management.
Any online places that sell Nortel hardware? |
