| Passed SCSA part one for Solaris 9 today (77%). It's a tough exam in my opinion. Took an hour. As for my preparation, I used Bill Calkins Solaris 9 system administration textbook, went on a Sun 10 day course, and studied everyday for 2 months. Had no Unix experience prior to starting to study Solaris. Wil do part 2 early next month. | |

| I didn't use a study guide, but I can tell you that it would be important to learn the following points if sitting the exam:
Know about the /etc/printersconf file
Know which commands are use to set aliases at PROM mode
What commands are used to show patches
The correct format for using the mount command
Difference between a logical and block device
Know about the /etc/default/passwd file
The options that go with the boot command at OBP
The correct format for the ufsdump command for full back ups and incremental backups
Know about the /etc/dumpdates file
The different options for the lpstat command
How to set printer classes
How to check if a tape drive is healthy
What backup method to use without unmounting the file system
Know about how to disable root logins
How to check what jobs have been instructed to run with the at command
Know about the /var/run file system
Command for setting system paarmeters from a shell prompt
The file where new printers are placed
How many groups can a user belong to and what determines this number
The key combinations that can be used with the stop key
Know the default files that are read when booting up the system for each of the different types of shells
This is all I can remember for now. hope this is of some help. | |
