| Dear All,
I just passed Admin I of solaris 8 with 890 mark. It is really not easy.
You will have at least 5-6 type-in question.
You will have one matching question.
Read through the offical book will not make you pass. You have to pratise some of vi & other commands. eg. tar, backup command, etc...
Best Regards,
Ken Cheng

| Ken,
Good job on passing part 1. Can you tell me
what this 'official book' is exactly? Pardon me if this is a faq type question. I have asked before in this forum but have not got
an answer.
Thanks in advance.

| The "official book" is the Solaris 8 Operating Environment System Administration I SA-238 Student Guide. It is what Sun gives you when you enroll yourself in their Solaris Administration courses. SA-288 is for part 2.
You may also try other Solaris Certification guides available in your favorite bookstore.
Examples: McGraw Hill/ Syngress
Exam Cram (Coriolis)
and more. | |

| Unixnation,
Thanks for the clarification. From what you wrote, I gather this offical book can only
be obtained by attending Sun's courses.
That can be expensive proposition if one is not sent by one's employer.
Thanks again.

| If you want to get certified,
the other books I've mentioned are okay.
They're a cheaper alternative to Sun training. Actually they are more detailed than the Sun student guide. If you really want a detailed book, use those sysadmin collection pdfs at docs.sun.com.
The "official book" is actually available in pdf format if you search the internet carefully.
Why would your employer not shoulder a Sun training for you? |
