Hello every one, I am A+, Ms certified and recently finished my ccna, and very close to sit the routing exam my first exam in the ccnp track. I am very interesed in going to Sun solaris, BUT I have zero knowledge in this track, I am here for some advice, directions, links as to where I can start, what hardware/software..etc I need. Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

Get Solaris. Learn Solaris. Then Certify.

Get yourself a cheap Sun box off of ebay, (a sparc 5 will do), or just get yourself a copy of Solaris for Intel. Install it, and start playing. Don't expect to be proficient enough to write the exam in just a couple months either. There is a lot of subject matter to 'know'.

Please, don't do like so many others here and simply study braindumps and take the test without ever laying a finger on a Unix box. Sun certs, and the skill and competency they are supposed to represent are slowly being devalued soley because of this. If it doesn't slow down soon, your nice Sun Cert will be worth as much as your A+ cert. "..and what's that worth?", you ask. To most, nothing at all.

I don't mean to preach, but too many people have gone down that road before you, and I must say they're useless when you put them in an actual sys-admin role. Which is why you want to be Sun certified, isn't it?
