I would like to know if the official sun book
is the sun documentation found at the Sun web site.

Hi,
the one available at doc.sun.com is purely meant for System Adminstration and its not focussed on passing the exams. But you can make use of it if you got appreciable hands-on expereince on Sun machines.

However use the offical Student manual, worth reading it.
