|  I'm a network techie in a large governmental WAN, various Win clients and
on the backend a hybrid environment of
NT and Unix (Sun boxes)
I've decided it's time to make tracks for the Unix side of the house. Here's my situation, other than tinkerings with Linux
in fits and starts (lots of command line
stuff, though) I am a flat out Unix virgin.
I'm planning on taking an intro to Unix
class at my local community college (cause the credits wouldn't hurt) and perhaps simultaneously taking a Sun Solaris course
(8) through an outfit like AmericaTrain
(yeah, I know, I know.) The best thing would
be also to get my foot in the door at the Unix end, but such a move won't happen without the cert.
Any thoughts oh this plan would be appreciated.

| If your new to UNIX I would recommend UNIX For Dummies. Hey, I was new to it once too, and I cut my teeth on that book. More UNIX for Dummies is also good. That'll give you a good foundation and it'll be easier to digest the more advanced and specific material that a Sun course may teach. Good luck |
