Can any one tell me from where i can download sun solaris OS for intel based machines . I had tried many sites but i did not find it out . My email is

| Hi there,
of course, from our point of view, you can download from sun.com...but it's useless. I have try that several time, and the files which i had downloaded is not working. Trust me man.
Since, that's the case, i have no choice, i order the intel version sun solaris 8 from them cost abt sin dollars ( $120 ) quite okie. If you get the softwares from them,you get a lot of others stuffs. Beside the OS software, you also get Oracle 8i for sun systems and other softwares.
It will do you good, if you order the software from them. Since, you can't download, you have to buy. I am also doing the same things. Listen me, you order the software, it will only do you good,instead of harm.

Actually i had attended the sun solaris course before 6 months and i had done only 2 weeks lab practice over there . But unfortunately i did not got any experience . So thats why i am thinking to install at my home and have some practice so after that i can give my exam

I downloaded it from Sun (see my seconds post, that's a link, click on it), burned the CDs, installed it, everything's OK. Are you sure you downloaded the right stuff?! | |

| Keep in mind that you're downloading image files. You can't just copy the image directly to the CD. If you write the images correctly though, it does work. | |

| Mr tomb u mean 2 say that i should down load it deirectly to my hard disk and i can run set from there directly ? is it possible ? bcoz i have win98

| I downloaded the intel solaris for few month ago. You need to dwonlaod 3 CD image (about 650Mb each. one is installnation Disk, other 2 is Software disk 1 &2) from there, and you need have a CD-Writer to burn that ISO image to the CD-R. Also you need to check you system hardware config. please search HCL from Sun.com. But in my experience, only download the software disk 1 & 2 are enough, because the software 1 also bootable.
by side, I have one doc is focus on "mutil boot in solaris with winnt and linux", if you need it you can email to tell me. |
