I will answer the question because it has been a number of days and nobody has replied. Firstly, I am really glad to see a question about .NET. This is an extremely important set of technologies and it is sad to see the lack of discussion about it in the MCSD forum. No offence meant to people like hard_coder who keeps saying how he's dot netting it all the way to his .NET MCSD, because personally this doesn't interest me (no offence meant hard_coder but you must agree that there is some truth in this.) Anyways, is there a learning edition? I have no idea, but I think there are three editions: standard, professional and enterprise. If you can get some good books on learning VS .NET then you should consider getting an evaluation edition of VS .NET because this will only cost you about $10.00. I began like this with a Beta 2 version, got hold of a couple of books, and have just recently obtained the evaluation edition which works for 60 days. This works for me right now - obviously if your finances are good right now then you might consider buying the product outright. For the development as it applies to the internet you will need a development machine with IIS 5.0 or better. VB .NET is truly object oriented and is rather dissimiliar to VB 6.0. I am concentrating more on the C++ and the C# languages. I have just finished going through the book 'Microsoft Visual C++ .NET Step by Step', Microsoft Press, ISBN 0-7356-1567-5. I can afford such luxuries as spending time on this because I am not employed right now. I like .NET, don't underrate it, if you want to learn it then you are on the right track.

i also just saw in the local book store a kit from microsoft that comes with a book that teaches vb.net and it comes with a working edition of the software, for $100, i'l look for it online to see if i find it at better price
