| hey ppl........
what are the main topics tested for the vb desktop exam?
I've been studying both desktop and distributed at the same time and even though i have the exam cram books for both, there seems to be different info about the exams.
I'm hoping to book the exam today for about 3 weeks time, its just hard to know what to concentrate on for this exam......
So far I have been looking at the following for the d/top exam:
* COM / ActiveX controls & documents
* Objects / OOP
* Package & Deployment
* Error handling / debugging
* Help files, etc
I would greatly appreciate if someone could give me a few suggestions............

| That's good to study for both at the same time. I took the distributed first, and I noticed a slight but distinct difference between the two tests.
The desktop exam (unlike distributed) has no questions whatsoever on MTS, very few on general n-tier architecture, and surprisingly few on ActiveX controls. Where does it make up that difference? P&D. I was really shocked. Distributed may ask 3 or 4 P&D questions and Desktop asked me about 10 to 12. Also, the desktop exam slips in some questions about various VB controls and their syntax - tab strip, combo box, etc. I tried to study for these, but the questions were so varied you really need to know a little bit of each.
As for the exam cram books, the distributed one cannot be beat. It nailed the test concepts dead-on. I feel Coriolis kinda missed with the desktop cram though. It tends to lead you astray. If you would follow the distributed exam cram cover-to-cover and do a little supplementing on P&D and/or control syntax, you should do quite fine. Good luck!

| thank you soooo much!
thats a great help....... I've read quite a bit on P&D but don't seen what they would base all of these q's on - maybe threading and compatibility i guess.........
thanx again! |
