| Just some quick advice.. I now have the money to get my certifications.. but I'm having a hell of a time debating between getting my A+ first or taking the WinXP MCP exam.
I have more experience with hardware (i.e. A+) than I do with XP (I'm currently reading the XP Exam Cram 2 and playing around a little with my XP system), but XP has the free retake if I take it by September 31 (it's also cheaper than the A+), not to mention I can get a good deal with getting a Transcender's practice exam along with a voucher (I would list the site, but it's automatically changed to ExamVouchers for some reason). On the flip side, XP is also going to be a good bit harder than A+.
Any suggestions for which of the two I should kick up my studies for? I want to try and order the voucher probably on Monday.
Thanks! | |

| What are your future goals, if it is help desk than Xp is what you want, if it networking later on I would say do the A+ then Net+. | |

| Thanks for the reply. Technically it's both.. I want to get my MCSE eventually, but I understand that to start somewhere in the field I need to do the helpdesk/tech support thing. Of course most of people who hire want an MCSE for the helpdesk | |

| On your path to MCSE, the A+ and Net+ are electives for the MCSA, that would mean just 3 tests for MCSA. Then you could chase down the MCSE with a couple more tests (2 I think)and be a lot further on your Quest.

| Also, on your way to MCSA, once you pass one MS test aren't you considered an MCP?
That's what I'm doing right now. I have A+ and Net+, studying for MCSA (which is now 3 tests because of the CompTIA elective). As is my understanding, once I pass one of those 3 exams, then I'll get the MCP.
Am I wrong in thinking that? If I am, please let me know. | |

| You're right, one MS test (210-215 etc..) and you are MCP. | |

| a+ is easy exam with such a low passing score. mcp is now even easier to get thanks to the mcdst exams 70-271 70-272 |
