Which way do I go first?? CCNA or MCSE?

| I am currently searching for an entry level desktop support position, after I recently completed my A+. I have about 12 years of experience in unique telecommunication/networked system from my years with the army and a government contractor. I had a short span of experience in a help desk enviornment back in 94-95 while in the service.
I know that an MCSE is huge, but I dont see myself being on the Microsoft merry go round forever. It does not appeal to me!! I am leaning towards CCNA, CCNP, and gaining a B.S degree out of it.(I have 63 QH transferred over to the degree program). Which do I do first? MCSA, CCNA then MCSE. If I chose to go CCNA first, how marketable will I be after I complete the CCNA? Any advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks

| CCNA fits better with your telecom experience.
Personally, I think configuring routers and switches is a little boring. Most of the configuration can be done using a GUI interface now-a-days. And you know from your telecom experience, setting up the wiring is a little tedious.
We have cisco and enterasys routers and switches. It's all GUI.
The upside is you don't have an end-user breathing on you, asking you 58 noob questions while you scrape the crud off their mouse, because the ticket that was sent in stated the "computer is not responding"!
I say go the CCNA route. | |

Thanks for your input. I agree that CCNA is a better fit, frankly my goal is to end up in a NOC, either as a tech or an engineer. I do not think an MCSE will get me there. Previous experience has showed me I like and thrive in "controlled chaos" ie a NOC enviornment. Probelm solving and troubleshooting is what I like the most.
Desktop support and dealing with users.. been there done that! Not alot of fun to me! | |

| eeer you specifically said you are searching for entry level desktop support...
if you are looking to work at a NOC, then you are not looking at desktop support aren't you.

| CCNA holds just about as much weight, if not more, than the MCSE in your given field. Plus its only one exam versus seven. If your in telecommunications I definitely recommend the CCNA route | |
|
| CCNA provided you better understanding how cisco network work + fundmental networking concept, u shall take it.
MCSE is OK, but ... |
