I am having thoughts about going back to school to get a 2 year degree in Computer Networking, Software Applications, or Web Development. Because my major is Microbiology, my only experience worth mentioning on my resume is 2 years of doing over the phone support & on hands diagnosis of compyter HW. I have been getting interviews but its the lack of experience that kills me. After talking to a recrutier at Teksystems, I was told that the Network Admin position require programming & database as well, plus someone who had 3-5 years experience in a WAN/LAN. So I was thinking about going back to school to get more hands on experience. Also, I was told that Database Administration & Web development (toward e-commrance) is where the recuriter is seeing more openings. Right now ITT Tech seems like a really good school. Any thoughts on ITT Tech ,or other schools I should / shouldn't consider

Gone are the good days as seeing IT as a quick way to riches and money bag. Didn't mean to be uneasy but it's the plain truth. So make sure your motives are right or you'd be disappointed big time.

I graduated from a tech school in December and I feel that it was the best investment for my career. But I feel that the problem with tech schools is that #1)The may promise placement assistance and things like that, but it is spotty at best and you wind up doing more work then their placement specialist #2)your are still going to be in that same position as far as not having any "experience". From what I have seen, the recruiters are looking for someone with work experience. You may want to consider getting a help desk job to get that experience and your foot into the door.
