Well i recently got my ccna, and i'm now working on the bcmsn for the ccnp, the cwna, and security+(which at the times, i want to delay pursuing), but the fact of the matter is i want to be a security specialist all the way(ccsp, cwsp, msce 2003 security, and eventually ccie security), so if you want to pursue a similar path, knock it down. Also in any case it certainly wouldn't hurt to have on your resume.

Securelockdown, as a fairly new member of this forum I find most of your response rude and demotivating. Just my humble opinion.

I agree. If we wanted to be de-encouraged all we gotta do is watch the news.

Would agree that Security+ would be a great cert to start especially if you want to start with the basics. After you notch it, start taking a look at the SANS stuff like GSEC which will explore security tools and concepts more fully than CompTIA does.
