| I applied for a Network Tech position yesterday via a job posting, the owner replied and has expressed interest in speaking with me further, I know when we talk the subject of money will come up. I havent the slightest clue as how much to ask for. The position is contract job. With 30-40 hrs work week's.
With my N+ cert, half way to A+, my AA and my expansive yet diverse background that spans 12 yrs in the tech field, which includes previous LAN support exp with 3.x. How much do I ask for. I am in a high cost living area. (I live in Monterey, CA, job is in Santa Cruz).
My minimum is 15/hr but I think I can ask for more. Any advice appreciated.
Thanks! | |

| do you know what your question reminds me of???
its the same as me asking you
"should i sell my house and move, or should i stay another year??"
now what is your answer?
well unless you can give us some details as to what you will be doing, or what the qualifications of the job are. then how can we answer your question???
p.s. i sold my house mostly because i owed very little on it and i needed the money... | |

| Look at similar job postings in your local area. Keep it in the same range.
i.e.
"What salary do you require for this contract?"
answer:
"Similar jobs in this area pay $XX/ hr. I would like my pay to be in the same range."
Hope that helps!
Good luck! |
