| If anyone cares...
The extint of my IT backround consists of this: AAS computer engineering
AA Interdisciplinary Technology (6 hours to go)
7 mo.s IT helpdesk
12 mo.s tech specialist at local community college
A+
Net+
Not too deep, I know. I did apply and received an entry level position at the Titan Corporation. Pay isn't terrible. Benefits are great. The ladder goes way up there (which is what i like best). I will be doinf basic network tech work to start with but hope to ease my way onto one of the local military bases and get into some homeland security stuff.
I believe being apart of the admin group here at the college helped a lot as well as a great interview. I am fairly new to this field but believe that a person hoping to make it in IT should focus on the BIG THREE: degrees, certs, experience. I am involved with all three as often as I can. Don't give up hope! | |

| Good luck to you Wiza, I do hope there is a ladder here....I have lost count how many times I've been told about training and career progression and nothing has materalised.....if things don't move, move them yourself....invest in yourself and you'll go far.....the big three sounds good but I wouldn't be 100% sold on the degree...........experience and certs is enough....good luck
I've been in IT over five years and I have worked with a bucket load of engineers and I haven't met one with a degree yet! |
