Hi all,

Just like to find out what is the fees like for a basic consultation on the clients premises? Times are bad and would like to do some free-lance on network & network security consultation job.

Maybe someone can give some pointers. Thanks.

Depends on how dumb your client is. If they know nothing, charge $150 per hour because stupidity is annoying. If they know exactly how many lines in Windows XP code, get out of there.

Lots of luck to you.

I own a consulting company. I live in a small town.

I guess it really depends how big the company/city is. I charge from 50-100 hour. You will get alot more business if your cheaper then the bigger companies.

When i first started I use to do house calls for say 20-30 hour. I am sick of doing them and in fact I usually turn them down now because I have other more important things to do. IE school, work.

Word to the wise - If you are doing security consulting you better charge enough for your liability insurance or really know your stuff.

I agree, you got to know your stuff well.. very well.

Depend on location, products, experts, and your business model. The salary is very flexible. I am not sure myself, I need to check this out..
