I got a job orientation tomorrow for a contract IT Job..

Anyone can give me any idea what will happen on the orientation.

I never went to orientation for a job.
I only went to a interview for a job.

Any advise..

Thanks

That's just where they show you where the restrooms are, explain company policies, attendance, etc.

Don't sweat it. They simply take this time to explain everything to you so that you can't say, "Nobody told me."

It also gives the HR people a certain amount of justification for being there.

Anyway, just got back from the orientation..

They said, that they are looking for contract IT job.. but required all personnel to have certifications that based on MS, compTIA, Cisco,... than, you will get pay by hrs and hopefully get hire by the company that you worked for.

However, the questions who is paying for those certifications that need to qualify the contract job...?

They never explain this issue until you make an appointment to see individual HR..

Weird....!!!

Anyone with is kind of experience...

Was this "orientation" with a Technical recruiter? Or with an actual company? If it was with a recruiter, they are probably just trying to fill their ranks for upcoming jobs, hedging their bets as it were. I went on more than a few of those "orientations" and didn't get a job out of any of them. (Just a waste of time and gas!)

As for who pays for all those certifications they want you to have, you do. Unless you happen to be lucky enough to have worked for a company that picked up the tab. (I got three of my certs paid for by a previous employer. ) And my current company, after I become a "full-time" employee, also offers tuition reimbursement.

Hope this clears up some things for you. Good luck in your job search! (Took me 14 months!)
