Anyone here taken the PMP cert offered up by the PMI?

I think that as a professional certifications go, the PMP may open new paths to success for myself and others within IT. I am considering this as a means to affirm my knowledge in the area.

Curious as to the opinion of those who have completed or are considering this cert?
