What should a newly certified A+ professional expect to make hourly, starting off in the industry?

Hey buddy let me tell u something seriously, don't expect much for an A+ title. Infact nothing if u dont have experience. It all depends on exp., more exp. u have more u earn. First thing first, it wouldnt be easy to break into IT (if u r new) many people do volunteer work, and telling u frankly i m looking forward to do same. I have A+, just passed Net+ but couldnt find a job. I did alot of research, met with people and all seem to had same advice for me "Go work voluntarily or find an internship" so this is wat i am doin now.
Anyway, a newly certified Professional should be earning about $12/h (seemed impossible to me unless u have gr8 contacts).

Well, I guess I'm going to volunteer with A guy I know that networks and maintains a small high school from my home town for some experience. At least for a little while. I'm only 19, but I do have a car payment and I am trying to get out on my own.

The economy sucks.....

2 years ago I remember going on monster.com and seeing a rather endless list of job openings for IT in my area. Now I see maybe 4 a day that require VERY extensive experience and certs.

Will the economy go up soon?

Everyone starts somewhere. I started off working for my college making 10 bucks an hour, I got my MCP and got picked up by a government contracting company as a technical lead. I will say this and I think I can speak for a lot of network people out there, nothing really lands in your lap, you have to really bust your hump to get what you want.

Depends on the job. If you repair PCs at CompUSA you may receive 10-12 per hour for example. A bench technician may earn twice that. Both would require A+.

The best think to do is find some way to get hands of- volunteer, minimum wage, private enterprise (whatever).

Damn...that sucks!

I just got A+ certified, but I also completed a certificate program at my city's community college(Microcomputer User Support)and after this semester, I'll complete another certificate program.

Would having an industrial certificate and 2 community college certificates improve my chances of having a job?

Meanwhile, the hospital I work at has an internship program and I've already spoken with the head IT person about signing me up(thank God).

Oh well, while the economy sucks, I'll continue my education and pray to God for openings.

Just wanted to say one thing. We all know the economy sucks right now. There are thousands out there looking for jobs. So, what do you do. You need to make yourself stand out amoungst everybody your competing with. Yes, this is a competition and if your not willing to work, study and practice harder than the next guy(or girl) somebody else is.

The job I've been at for a year now was asking for 5-10 years of experience. I had none, but I knew my sh*t. Because I studied my a** off, hours each day. Had to do all I could to get a job over all the laid off people with years of experience.

If you do what everyone else is doing, you're going to get what everyone else gets. And that's not a second look after an interview. You need to make yourself stand out, need to know more than the next guy, or next hundred guys normally.
