I am wondering which area of IT I would like to specialize in.
A while back I saw a test that you could take and it would tell you where your strengths was and which IT areas fit them. I have not been able to find the link again though.
I was thinking about security, databases, or programing.
What are some good websites to get a feeling for what each entails?
I am going to University of Phoenix for Business Information Technology so I will have a BS in about 2 more years

My .02,

try and focus on the Business side, I think there's more oportunity there. Even in 2 years when you do graduate. Plus the potential to grow (financially and on the corprate ladder) is greater on the business side then on the IT side.

With technology always changing the young guns will be able to do the IT job (unless its as an IT manager) better and for cheaper. Every year more and more young guns get pumped into the industry willing to work for less and probably know more then some of the old fogies....

Thats my .02

Is there any relatively easy way to get into the business side of things though

I know at my university after your sophmore year you had to apply to the business school.... it may be the same with yours?

Once you get into business school, you took only business related classes and would major in Finance, Marketing, Accounting, etc etc. I would suggest going into something where theres management potential.

eg friend graduated with a business degree got into an insurance firm for a Management Development Program and will manage 10 to 20 Reps after done with training... good way to go.
