Hi all,

After I finish my Network Plus cert,I have to make a choice as to what direction I will be going. Here in NYC, if I toss a rock in the air I'm almost sure I would hit a MCSE or maybe two. Is the cert still worth it in today's economy? Or should I do the Cisco cert, CCNA along with checkpoint cert.

Why not do the MCSA first, then switch to the CCNA, then move on to the MCSE? It depends on what you want to do. Not everyone uses CISCO.

The Cisco certifications seem to equal more base salary. I would follow what crutch said, and get my MCSA, and then liven it up with a CCNA, or perhaps the wireless certification CWNA. The MCSA track applies to the MCSE certification (3 more tests) and can be added later. The knowledge you gain in a Cisco certification is also more readily applied to networking in general. If you can stick with it, CCIE's can easily clear 90K in some areas.

Well a CCNA is a single test but it is a difficult test for a novice.
If you can get 6 months or a years experience on a production network I would do that while your getting your degree.
Then based on that decide which direction you want to go.

Doing a CCNA first would make most of the network stuff in microsoft easier.
