| Hi all,
After I finish my Network Plus cert,I have to make a choice as to what direction I will be going. Here in NYC, if I toss a rock in the air I'm almost sure I would hit a MCSE or maybe two. Is the cert still worth it in today's economy? Or should I do the Cisco cert, CCNA along with checkpoint cert.

| Why not do the MCSA first, then switch to the CCNA, then move on to the MCSE? It depends on what you want to do. Not everyone uses CISCO. | |

| The Cisco certifications seem to equal more base salary. I would follow what crutch said, and get my MCSA, and then liven it up with a CCNA, or perhaps the wireless certification CWNA. The MCSA track applies to the MCSE certification (3 more tests) and can be added later. The knowledge you gain in a Cisco certification is also more readily applied to networking in general. If you can stick with it, CCIE's can easily clear 90K in some areas. | |

| Well a CCNA is a single test but it is a difficult test for a novice.
If you can get 6 months or a years experience on a production network I would do that while your getting your degree.
Then based on that decide which direction you want to go.
Doing a CCNA first would make most of the network stuff in microsoft easier.
