| Ok guys. I need your most professional advice. I noticed quite a number of members here having multiple certifications and I was wondering if you would be so kind to provide me with some advice.
I currently have the following :-
- BSc(Hons) in Computing Information Systems
- MBus Information Technology
- Red Hat Certified Engineer
I'm looking for a next certification and was wondering if anyone has any advice as to what the next big certification would be? My considerations ...
Should I follow the crowd and do a security cert? If so, which do I take?
Should I become a dual-homed guy and do the MCSE 2003?
Some certification that have crossed my mind :-
- SCP
- CISSP
- Security+
- CIW Security Analyst
- CCNA
- MCSE 2003
Any comments, suggestions and recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

| I would say Security+, A+, and MCP as immediate goals. This will give you three more certs. One in security, one in hardware, one in MS administration.
That would be a good goal for the next 4-6 months.

| What is your career goal? And toward that direction. No doubt security is HOT! But experience on security is more important than a certification.
Also u can find up on Linux certifications... since u are RHCE

| With an MCSE you can conquer the world. | |

| My advice is to get a job and obtain some actual experience in what you are already certified! that would be much more valuable than having certs that don't really represent your body of knowledge. | |

| I would agree with the previous poster's statement regarding experience. However, as we all know, finding a job that provides experience isn't all that easy in this economy. My sense of the market is that both security and wireless remain the hot topics.
Last week I attended a two day ISSA sponsored security conference here in Sacramento and all in attendance seemed confident that people focused on network security are going to continue to be a valued (and employable) resource.
I say wireless, because it is clearly an environment that will expand once better security solutions are in place. In the meantime, people like its convenience, and properly configured it can provide an adequate security environment for most purposes.
