I have a gateway computer with a mini tower. I need to attach it to a network. It is possible for me to connect the computer to the network without purchasing a NIC card from gateway? I was told only a gateway NIC card would work. Is it possible for me to use a USB Ethernet adapter? Any information regarding the above would be greatly appreciated

?? A USB device will hookup to a USB port, It doesn't matter if its compaq, dell, gateway, ibm, USB is USB, I think they are just trying to sell you something else..

Any network card will work with your computer. At my job network card always fail and we just replace them with another card from another manufacturer and we use Gateway. Check to make sure it will not void your warranty that is maybe what they are saying to you.
