CruelSpecies, I made the same move when I left the US army in 81. it was about a year before I found a technical job, BUT I did and with the except of a 6 month 2 years later I have had steady employment. I have been moving over for from electronic tech into as the comm center I work in has. One advantage you have is that you have had some level of security clearance. That is to your advantage particully after 9-11. There is a growing need for IT security speacialist.
