Hello all,
Please have a look at my resume.

Any comments would appreciate.

I don't know if it is the same as a CV but your Resume, to me, does not seem to be very personal. It just seems like a list of bullet points, and to be honest with you, I gave up reading it half way down page 2.

What I would try and do is to write it in such a way that your personality comes across.

I also noticed that you listed every version of certain applications - why not just put "extensive knowledge of ......"

Though no expert, I feel the above pointers may help.

Resumes / CVs should always be easy to read. If a Manager has a hundred resumes to read, and yours take effort to read (which it does unfortunetly), it will go straight into the reject pile.

Resumes serve to get you an interview, so design it with this in mind. Its clear that you have a lot of skills / experience, but I feel you need to be more selective with what info you supply. Pick out the really impressive stuff, and emphasise this. Lay it out so that these major attributes stand out a mile. Leave the more detailed stuff for you to talk about in the interview.

From a layout point if view:

  1. Less content, more whitespace. Make it easy for the reader to scan the page quickly and see the information they want.

  2. Pick one font (and font size) and stick to it!

  3. Emphasize only headers with bold type. Avoid other formatting (underline, italic etc)

  4. Use bullet lists, and use the same format of bullets throughout the whole document!

  5. Indent text to make easier to read, but use the same indentation throughout the whole document!

  6. Dont waste space with 'References available on request'. It is assumed that you can supply these.

Also, for each job, try to list one significant acheivement. i.e. 'Reduced the companies server downtime by 75% within 6 months'. Don't use each job as an excuse to list what skills you got out of it. What a company wants to know is what You will do for them

OK, enough from me. But as a final note, is the 4th MCP logo on your resume still valid? I don't think it is.

Good luck. And when you get that job, if you need an assistant.....
