| Can anyone give me a an idea of the "proper" format for a resume in the IT field? I really need a push in the right direction here. Thanks! | |

| Unless you've got lots of project experience I would organize one with headings similar to below:
EDUCATION - List degrees earned here
CERTIFICATIONS - List certs here, or perhaps consider as a subheading to EDUCATION. I like to list mine separately
WORK HISTORY - organize work history chronologically with date, position, company name. Then a bulleted list of responsibilities and experience.
SKILLS - You might subcategorize with HARDWARE and SOFTWARE, and specify experience with certain products and solutions.
In general this is how I've categorized mine. Look on the internet (career sites) for other tips on organizing your resume. I'm sure their may be better ways.
Just be sure to use bullets, bold fonts for headings, and organize the resume well. AND BE SURE TO check spelling. | |
