| Considering all the bad news with regards to the slump in the IT market especially with a bleak future and layoff's what motivates you to continue the IT chase.
I for one personally, am being motivated because it is as a hobby to me plus my passion for IT in general is what keeps me going. I'd like to know what's everyone's opinion on this. However, there must be a reason why you still think IT as a career is worth pursuing. Lets hear from you. Cheerio and please, don't forget to keep the knowledge pool flowing.

| I suppose it's because I haven't yet given up hope completely that the I.T. field as a whole is a dead end. In addition, completing a BSc degree would still be worth something, even if the major is I.T.
Interestingly enough, I read in Tech Republic yesterday that merely graduating from the computer science programs of certain universities makes one an "I.T. superstar" who is still highly sought after.

| Well I have been in the IT field since 84. They did'nt have much of O/S Certs back then.
Hardware was the big thing in the 80's and then O/S's in the 90's. I am now working for a company that is a Microsoft Solutions Provider and I need to keep up on the certs. I am only working on the certs that I need for the work I do currently. If I were to persue the MCSE, I would never use what I have learned. The MCSE's here design and implement the networks, which one day I hope to grow into.
The work I do now is more administration, so I am going to stay at MCSA for now. I also work with hardware at times and I need to keep up with server and desktop repair certs.I like the work that I do and I find that certs with or without experience will get you notice in some respect. I do not believe in the paper cert name calling only because we all have to start somewhere. I consider myself a paper cert of Windows 2000. I think in all good time, jobs will be available. My advice is to get certified while it is slow, and when the jobs become available, you will be ready.

| First I had a fascination to IT. Then I found a job and then I do it for the love of it. | |

| 1. In hopes that it will keep me employed/employable - job security
2. Some hope that it will provide opportunities for more money at my job.
3. I like to learn.
4. No matter what, computers are here to stay. So, the more you know about IT, no matter one's career choice, the better off you are.

| To get into the porn industry. Look the whole internet explosion was because of porn. Multimedia, flash, broadband etc, are all for porn. The first company that made money out of the internet was a porn site. Let's face it, it has been and it will be because of sex. | |
