Hi, first of all this is a great place to be .

I just passed my A+ and now i'm planning to do N+ in a few weeks.

2 weeks ago i learned that u with the A+ and N+ u can continue to learn for the MCSE or A certifications.

My question is. Which one is better ? I would like to get MCSD (developing) some day but i thing that is going to take me around 3 years from now so to step up a ladder in my currect job (and salary) i want to pursue one of these certifications. My dream is to be in the development business some day but i don't have a degree or any experience in that (offtopic though).

I currently work at a helpdesk and the next jobs should be something like a system engineer or adminstrator. But i don't know if i should go for MCSE or MCSA. Personally i think MCSE is higher..am i right ?

Right. MCSE needs 7 exams, MCSA 5 exams.

2 things:

1. why not get MCSA first, then MCSE, since the two tracks converge?

2. Net+ and A+ do not count towards your MCSE -- only towards the MCSA.

Let me know if I can be of more help

I agree. Do MCSA, then MCSE.

MCSA you only need 4 exams; 70-210, 215, 216, 218.

MCSE you need the full seven.

Net+ doesn't hurt to obtain. But if you're looking ahead to MCSE. Don't waste your time on Net+

since you all ready have your A+ and will soon have you Network +, you can use those as electives for the MCSA and then all you need to get is the 70-210, 70-215, and 70-218.. and you MCSA certified...

this is what I have done and all I ahve to write is 70-218... probably in 2 weeks..

then with all of those exams all you need to do is write 4-5 more exams and you are mcse certifed.

hope this helps

I have my MCSA and the track I took was the A+ and Net+ and 3 MCP exams. This is a great stepping stone to the MCSE. I think it has given me a short term goal and that I havent been sitting around thinking about 7 exams just the 3 know that I have them it makes me feel better and know I only have 4 more for the MCSE and I hope to have that before Nov. going to sit for the 217 in next two weeks and I have never been more into studing and learning this stuff since I got the MCSA.

I really do think that it is a nice step and if you want to take a break after that before the MCSE, at least you will have one high level cert (not the highest, but a start)

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thank you very much for the replies.

The MCSA -> MCSE is the solution for me. I'll take that route.

Now on to that N+ exam.

Thank you all very much...i got a clear picture now.
