| Since the job market has gone downhill, college internship have also become scarce. Try to get a job with a degree and a couple of certs... GOOD LUCK!!! So its imperative for college grads to have some "resume experience."
Luckily, I ran into the "Director of Technology" at my previous High School. Apparently, most school systems do practically all of their upgrades in the summer when network traffic is down. This coupled with a limited IT staff presents a lot of work for a few people.
You guessed it... he had no paid positions available, but when I offered to donate my time he immediately said "yes". I'll be working in a Desktop Support role for 16 hours a week (can't donate too much time).
So, inconclusion, since budgets are low and work still needs to be done, try volunteering. Contact your local school system or any other government organization hurt by budget cuts. |
